THE DYNAMIC DUO
In the world of storytelling, the author–illustrator partnership is a bit like wine and cheese, each wonderful on its own, but undeniably better together. Author Jennifer Barrette, an artist in her own right, doesn’t simply create stories; she sketches their earliest whispers, creating visual mockups that bring her ideas to life long before they ever reach the page. Enter Argentinian illustrator Fer Peralta, her creative counterpart, who takes those whispers and transforms them into something vivid, expressive, and magical. Together, they’ve created four picture books (and counting), with many more adventures already waiting in the wings.

Fer Peralta was born in Mar del Plata, Argentina, in 1990, and formally trained at the Martín A. Malharro School of Visual Arts, where he graduated in 2018 as a professional illustrator. His work is defined by its emotional depth and versatility, capturing a wide range of human experience (and humor) in every image. Since 2020, he has worked independently, collaborating with authors across the globe to bring children’s stories of adventure, imagination, family, and friendship to life.

His talent and professionalism have led to published works in countries including the United States, Canada, Spain, and England, while his artwork has also been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout Argentina. Whether working in soft, whimsical tones or bold, dynamic compositions, Fer’s illustrations carry a distinct ability to connect, making each story not only seen, but felt.
